If a picture’s worth a thousand words, think of all the writing you could save yourself by including graphics in your writing projects! Photographs and illustrations give sparkle and life to gray text pages. With the millions of images available on the Internet, there’s no reason for your publication to be blah. The sites below are just the tip of the image iceberg where you will find photographs, illustrations, cartoons and other graphics about any topic on earth. Many sites offer “free” images, and many images are “royalty-free”, meaning you do not have to pay the originator to use them. Others are available for fees that range from modest to pricey, depending on the quality and/or artist. When you right-click in the upper left corner of an image, a drop-down menu will give you an option of saving it to your computer. And there it will be to fuel your creativity and spark your imagination whenever you want to pack a wallop without writing a lot of words.

Tips
- Be aware that many photographs and illustrations are copywrited material. Unless you are sure it’s in the public domain, get permission before publishing an image, especially for commercial use.
- Narrow your search for images. Searching under “Garden” images will take you well past the growing season to view them all. Get specific: limit your search to “Roses” if that’s your interest.
